Austin S. Harris

Austin S. Harris is a writer, performer, and filmmaker. He was born and raised in South Jersey, where he spent his summers working at his family’s Rita’s Italian Ice franchise. After graduating from NYU Tisch in 2017, he worked for the ABC news magazine 20/20, where he was an executive assistant to two news anchors, traveled to various “scenes of the crime,” and provided voiceover for the show. He then worked as a development assistant, director’s assistant, and script coordinator. Austin has written and directed several projects, including Stevie’s Aliens, a sci-fi short film that was a finalist in the Amazon Prime All Voices Film Festival, won Best Cinematography at NFFTY 2018, and was featured on FOX Soul’s Screening Room; and Jordan Presents, a comedic short film about race that Austin also acted in which won two Craft Awards at NYU’s New Visions and Voices Festival (including Best Lead Actor for Austin). Austin has been profiled by SYFY Wire, written for The Huffington Post and Afropunk, and was accepted into the 2022 Walt Disney Television Writing Program.
